Tim Wagoner

President

My name is Tim Wagoner and I am the president of Follow Up prison Ministries International. I am married to Angelica, and we have three children and three (soon to be four) granddaughters. I started working at Lyon’s restaurant at the age of 15 and went on to become a kitchen manager which help me learn the Spanish language. Learning to speak Spanish enabled me to meet my future wife who spoke no English when we met. Little did I know that learning another language would open the door to prison ministry.

In 1996, I was asked to go into San Quentin state prison to take part in a Spanish-speaking bible study. After a few visits, the brother that was facilitating the study told me that he was moving, and that the bible study was now my responsibility.

For next five years, I led the study every Monday evening. I went on to join teams of volunteers to facilitate seminars in prisons throughout California, have been ministering to men and women behind bars for well over 20 years, and have served as president for over 10 years. My wife and I have served as teachers and youth leaders in our local churches as well. It has been a wonderful blessing and privilege to proclaim the Gospel and witness the power of His work in the lives of so many. By His grace, I will continue to serve until He comes or takes me home.

Volunteer Training

God Squad volunteers go where inmates live — they walk the tiers, ministering to individuals and groups in cell blocks and dayrooms, as well as chapels. They deal with live situations. It's the real world,
